A head on a pike
Have you been wondering what happened to Nick Hogan? This story gives a good account of his treatment. I agree with Pete Robinson's view. I must also admit to being wrong about how it would go. Looking back it is easy to see how I made such a mistake. I didn't take into account my personal lack of experience as a freedom fighter nor the great deal of experience of imposing their will of the state and it's machinery. If they had gone to court within a week or two of my previous post it might have been a different story. But the council was in no hurry right then. I/We missed what seems an obvious tactic to me now; we should have campaigned with many other pubs to get the landlords to do the same. If we could have raised some kind of war chest we might have made a dent. But then again maybe not.
But through watching the Ron Paul campaign, and getting involved in it to the degree that I can living in England, I hope I'm learning a few things. One is that to gain real active support you have to have a cause that has much wider support than fighting the tobacco control fascists.
America has a different history and different traditions but much of the dumbing down of their people has also been happening here too. Yet still the Ron Paul Revolution is a happening thing there. I believe the same could happen here. I'd love to have some comments on this idea.
