A head on a pike

Have you been wondering what happened to Nick Hogan? This story gives a good account of his treatment. I agree with Pete Robinson's view. I must also admit to being wrong about how it would go. Looking back it is easy to see how I made such a mistake. I didn't take into account my personal lack of experience as a freedom fighter nor the great deal of experience of imposing their will of the state and it's machinery. If they had gone to court within a week or two of my previous post it might have been a different story. But the council was in no hurry right then. I/We missed what seems an obvious tactic to me now; we should have campaigned with many other pubs to get the landlords to do the same. If we could have raised some kind of war chest we might have made a dent. But then again maybe not.

But through watching the Ron Paul campaign, and getting involved in it to the degree that I can living in England, I hope I'm learning a few things. One is that to gain real active support you have to have a cause that has much wider support than fighting the tobacco control fascists.

America has a different history and different traditions but much of the dumbing down of their people has also been happening here too. Yet still the Ron Paul Revolution is a happening thing there. I believe the same could happen here. I'd love to have some comments on this idea.

Mitt scores again with the media

Another YouTube item. This is audio only. Mitt "discusses" a 1% flat tax alternative to the income tax, takes another jibe at Ron Paul, and loses a potential voter, all in about 3 minutes.

This is cool

There is what I think is a really good project that I want to support going on right now to get a 4 page newspaper featuring nothing but RP on to hundreds of thousands of doorsteps on or before Super Tuesday. As this is not a part of the official campaign it is something that we as Brits can contribute to. Here is some info http://www.theamericanideal.net/11thHourCampaign.html

I have emailed...... and just this moment got a reply that appears below....

Let's support this.

Bernie,

Your email warmed my heart and gave me chills. It gives me
such courage to know the world is watching us as we work to
elect Ron Paul as President of the United States.

Please do tell all your people about this project. We desperately
need funds to make this happen. And yes you are right, you can
give funds to support this cause, as we are not officially part of
the campaign.

Our site will be up and running in the next few hours. But if you
want to give now, please send a PayPal donation to: crystal dot broyles at gmail dot com

Thanks so much!!

Make it a Patriotic day,
Crystal

Hi,

I love your project for the Ron Paul newspaper and I would like to
contribute to it but I don't have enough information about how I can. I
am English and live in England. I cannot contribute to the official Ron
Paul campaign but I'm sure I can contribute to this. The problem is that
I cannot write a useful cheque that will be cashable in time. Is there a
way I can send a contribution via Paypal? I am part of the London,
England Ron Paul meetup group and will pass along the details of your
project if there is a way we can contribute to it.

There are people, lots of them, all over the world watching you guys
with hope in their hearts.

Chinese resistance to smoking ban

The Chinese big chief has promised a "smoke free olympics". The event starts in a few months. With the eyes of the WHO and ASH types on one side and various human rights groups also watching them this is a story to watch.

RP is having an effect over here

This is an excellent piece explaining the Gold Standard and the current state of the US and UK economies. Published in the Telegraph. It doesn't mention Ron Paul but it does state his arguments very well.

London Ron Paul Meetup follow up

Wow I had a great time meeting about 30 other Ron Paul supporters yesterday. We talked a lot and waved banners. Took lots of pictures and made a video for YouTube. I'll post about the video when I have the details. Here is a link to some of the pictures.

It is really worthwhile to meet up with like minded folk.

"Let's you and I talk"

The internet has some fascinating aspects. We live in the country that has the most surveilance cameras in the world. America is way behind on this but they do have the "Patriot" Act and other similar measures indicating they would like to catch up. What has this to do with the internet? Well surveilance can go both ways. Check out Mitt Romney dealing with a reporter who asked an interesting question....

Kind of like "We're not dating, we just kiss a little."

I Believe

The First American Revolution was a wonderful thing. The odds against it were high but nowhere near as high as the odds against the Second one.   9 times out of 10 when I mention Ron Paul to someone who knows who he is the immediate response I get is "It's a shame he'll never make it". It is a kind of automatic response like "Fine. How are you?". I've even said it myself. It is another "everyone knows" but like so many things that "everyone knows"...

Freedomanddemocracy

I just read an excellent piece by Ron Paul on the use of the words "freedom" and "democracy" written in 2005. It is very well written. You can find it here.

Americans are not noted for understatement...

Here is a link that will take you to the Ron Paul Toolbar page. You can download the toolbar and use it in IE or Firefox. With every search you make a contribution is made to further the work of Ron Paul activists. Best of all it costs you nothing. Please download and use on all your machines.

There is a permanent link to the toolbar on the right of this post at the top of the blogroll.

So what is the understatement? Well on the left of the toolbar is the statement "Hope for America". I don't live in America and am not an American. To my mind a Ron Paul presidency is possibly the greatest hope for the entire world right now.

The doctor who cures apathy

There have been many news items in the last couple of months I could have blogged about. Just one of them would be how the UK news media presented the news of the latest EU treaty, the one that puts most of the EU constitution into law, without mentioning a single piece of what the new treaty represented. Instead they told us that Gordon Brown was going to sign the treaty several hours later than the other heads of state!

But I'm more interested in what is being done to further the cause of true freedom in the world. Many of us feel helpless and even apathetic when we look at what is happening. So I think this and this are more worthy items.
